Grand Central have taken delivery of 2 Class 180 Diesel Multiple Units (DMUs), for use on their fourth service due to start in Summer 2009.

Still in livery of the previous operator 180105 can be seen heading south past Stranton Signal Box, Hartlepool, while working 5Z24 Heaton Depot- Holgate Sidings. This run was a test run, the first for this class of unit along the Durham Coast line. It allowed Network Rail and other authorities to check the gauge clearance along the route and at stations. 7th May 2009.
